  5. On 13th July 1955 Ruth Ellis became the last woman to be hanged for murder in Great Britain. 
  6. Ruth Ellis had a tempestuous love affair with David Blakely. After discovering he was having a relationship with another woman, she took a cab to a pub where she knew he was drinking and waited for him to emerge. She shot him dead in the street. Their was little doubt of her guilt, at her trial she blatantly admitted her intent to kill him.
